Frequently asked questions
Are my audio files uploaded to a server?+
No. Decoding and encoding run entirely in your browser via the WebCodecs API and mediabunny. Your files never leave your device.
Can I convert WAV to MP3?+
Yes — that's the most common case. Drop a WAV (or FLAC) and export a much smaller MP3 at the bitrate you choose.
What's the difference between the output formats?+
MP3 is lossy and universal; OGG (Opus) is lossy and the most space-efficient; WAV is uncompressed and lossless; FLAC is compressed and lossless.
Why is a format greyed out?+
OGG and FLAC encoding depend on your browser's codec support. If a format isn't available, it's disabled — try Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
