Generate placeholder images,
without the hotlink.
Dummy images at any size for mockups, layouts and test data — custom colors, gradients and labels, exported as PNG, JPG, WEBP or SVG.
How it works
- 1
Set the size
Type exact pixel dimensions or pick a preset — HD, square, Open Graph card, thumbnail. Anything up to 8000 × 8000.
- 2
Style it
Choose a solid color or a two-stop gradient, and keep the dimensions label or replace it with your own text.
- 3
Download
Grab a PNG, JPG or WEBP at full resolution — or an SVG that scales to any size. Rendered locally, instantly.
Frequently asked questions
Why not just use a placeholder URL service?+
Hotlinked placeholder services add an external request to every page load, go down, get rate-limited, and leak your traffic to a third party. A generated file is yours: it works offline, in air-gapped environments, and never changes under you.
What are placeholder images for?+
Mockups, wireframes and layouts that need an image before the real asset exists — plus test fixtures, CMS seeding and email templates. The dimensions label makes it obvious at a glance which slot each image belongs to.
Which format should I download?+
PNG is the safe default. JPG is smaller for large images, WEBP smaller still. SVG is text-based and scales losslessly — ideal when the same placeholder needs to fill many differently-sized slots.
Is there a size limit?+
Up to 8000 × 8000 pixels — beyond what any layout realistically needs. Since rendering happens on your device, there are no download quotas or rate limits.
Is it free?+
Yes — free, unlimited, no signup, no watermarks.
