PDF to text,
without the upload.
Pull all the text out of a PDF in your browser — copy it or download a .txt file, with page markers and a word count.
How it works
- 1
Drop a PDF
Add any PDF with selectable text. It's parsed locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Read the text
Every page's text is extracted instantly, with optional page markers and a live word & character count.
- 3
Copy or download
Copy the whole thing to your clipboard, or save it as a plain .txt file.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?+
No. The PDF is parsed entirely in your browser with pdf.js. It never leaves your device.
Why is the extracted text empty?+
The PDF probably contains scanned images rather than real text — there's nothing selectable to extract. Convert it to images with our PDF → Image tool and run OCR, or use the original source document if you have it.
Will the layout be preserved?+
This extracts the raw text content in reading order, reconstructing line breaks. Complex multi-column layouts, tables and exact spacing may not be perfectly preserved — it's plain text, not a formatted copy.
Can I extract just one page?+
The tool pulls every page with page markers so you can quickly copy the section you need. Per-page export may come later.
Is it free?+
Yes — free, no signup, no watermarks.
